Community Projects
KWDB has been involved in numerous community events
throughout the past five years. The premiere event for
Whidbey Island and the City of Oak Harbor has been the
American Cancer Society's annual Relay-For-Life, twenty-four
hour walk to raise money and awareness for the fight against
cancer.
The event kicks off beginning in January with planning
and
recruiting of teams and sponsors. The event culminates
on a
weekend in June with all teams coming together at the Oak
Harbor Middle School track. KWDB provides live coverage
of
the kick-off ceremonies and continues with supportive music
throughout the night. During the course of the event, live
interviews and various entertainment promotions are
conducted leading up to the final closing ceremony.
In 2005, KWDB helped raise $175,000.00 far exceeding
the goal set at $135,000.00. In 2006,
the goal is expected to be set at $210,000.00.
KWDB participates in numerous events throughout the year
as presented by various service clubs as follows...
- Whidbey Island Challenge Gravity Race (Rotary Club)
- City Beach Classic Car Show (Lions Club)
- Holland Happening Festival (City of Oak Harbor)
- Provide choreographed music for the Annual Fourth
of July Fireworks display at City Beach
- National Night Out for Crime Prevention and various

In addition to the many events in the KWDB listening area,
the station provides Public Service
